The Redfield Community Memorial Hospital and Clinic Foundation was founded in 1994 and is a non-profit organization. It operates independently of the Hospital and Clinic. The Foundation is governed by a voluntary board of directors recruited from the community.
The purpose of the Foundation is to help meet the needs of health care in the Community Memorial Hospital and Redfield Clinic that are not included in the hospital budget. The Foundation does this by receiving and investing donations from the public and making grants for specific equipment and projects. Staff bring requests to the CMHC administration, who evaluate requests and forward appropriate opportunities to the Foundation for consideration by the board.
The Foundation has raised funds to support the CMHC through grants. Its mission statement is “To ensure the provision of quality healthcare and services to residents of Redfield and its surrounding communities by providing financial support to the Community Memorial Hospital and Clinic.”
In a 1997 campaign, the Foundation raised more than $750,000 in current and deferred gifts to build its funds and enable it to purchase equipment needed by the hospital. In a 2009 campaign, the Foundation raised more than $250,000 to furnish the hospital’s renovation and expansion project
Supporting the Community
The CMHC Foundation represents your opportunity to invest in Redfield and the surrounding area and improve the health care currently available for your family, your friends, your neighbors, your grandchildren, and yourself. An ongoing focus of the Foundation is to allow more families to get more of their health care locally. Besides medical and quality of life benefits, support of the Foundation also means economic benefits to the community. Your gift to the Foundation will help make this a reality.
How You Can Help
The Foundation will accept gifts of cash, check, or securities. Gifts of other assets, such as real property, are subject to approval. Deferred gifts—such as bequests, life insurance gifts, or beneficiary designations—are welcome (see below).
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Remembering CMHC Foundation
Including the Foundation in an estate plan is an easy way to support health care in the Redfield area. Supporters can name the Foundation in a bequest in their will or as beneficiaries of their life insurance or retirement plans. These estate gifts can provide significant support to the Foundation and may offer tax advantages to the donor. Please consult your legal or financial advisor when considering such gifts.
Memorial gifts to the Foundation are a special way of remembering someone who has died. Sometimes the family requests such gifts in lieu of flowers to support a cause the deceased cared about.
